The UK had it’s hottest June day since 1976. On Wednesday 21st June a temperature of 34.5C was recorded at Heathrow in London.

Parts of Britain also had five consecutive days with the temperature reaching over 30C -the hottest prolonged spell in June since the drought summer of 1976.

The record temperature is 35.6C set in Southampton on June 28 1976.

June 2017 was also one of the wettest on record in the UK. Scotland experienced its equal wettest June on record (shared with 1938). The UK as a whole had 50% more rain than average during the month.
